Door of the Town of Pedraza

Posted in Calle Real, Jail of the Town, General, Video on December 1st, 2009 by Discovers Pedraza

The Door of the Town is the only current access for vehicles that Pedraza has, and the only entry and persons' exit under his arch. At the end of the XXth century there was discovered his current front, which could be a Mozarab. In turn, it is part of the turret of alertness where there is located The Jail, building rehabilitated at the beginning of the eighties for museum, visit and diverse cultural acts. A su vez, forma parte del torreón de vigilancia donde se ubica La Cárcel, edificio rehabilitado a primeros de los ochenta para museo, visita y diversos actos culturales.

Constructed aproximádamente in the  VIIIth century it was rehabilitated later on the XVIth century and it still keeps the doors of black poplar, something spoiled already, that even can close leaving the Town "sealed" and fortified as formerly.

Inside the arch it is possible to see the figure of name “The crucifix of the Door of the Town”.

And to look with optimism nothing better than the following engraved video on December 23, 2008, at about 5 PM, from the Lookout of the Well of the Ontanillas. The Well is what you can see, below, an ancient turret of alertness that had a cistern in his base and was serving to water the orchards in stairs of The Poyales, to his feet. El Pozo es lo que podéis ver, abajo, un antiguo torreón de vigilancia que tenía un aljibe en su base y servía para regar los huertos en escalera de Los Poyales, a sus pies.
