The Castle of Pedraza of the Saw

Placed in an end of the hill where the population settles, the Pedraza castle is a work of the XIVth century, on remains of previous fortifications, with reforms of the XVth and XVI. It belonged to the families Farrier and Fernández de Velasco (dukes of Cold and condestables of Castile). It is famous, in other things, for having been the place chosen by Carlos V about 1529 to guard the children of the king of France, Francisco I, prisoners in the Pavía battle. It was a residence of the painter Zuloaga, and today it lodges a museum dedicated to his work. Es famoso, en otras cosas, por haber sido el lugar elegido por Carlos V hacia 1529 para custodiar a los hijos del rey de Francia, Francisco I, prisioneros en la batalla de Pavía. Fue residencia del pintor Zuloaga, y hoy día alberga un museo dedicado a su obra.

It has irregular polygonal plant, of double enclosure, with square towers and pit. The wooden door of the entry is an ogival arch of the XVIth century wrapped up by two big garitones. It still preserves sharp iron tops in the shape of small pyramids.
