Placed in an end of the hill where the population settles, the Pedraza castle is a work of the XIVth century, on remains of previous fortifications, with reforms of the XVth and XVI. It belonged to the families Farrier and Fernández de Velasco (dukes of Cold and condestables of Castile). It is famous, in other things, for having been the place chosen by Carlos V about 1529 to guard the children of the king of France, Francisco I, prisoners in the Pavía battle. It was a residence of the painter Zuloaga, and today it lodges a museum dedicated to his work.
